Concerns have been raised about cleanliness and maintenance at Crocs Play Centre in Hoppers Crossing after a parent reported discovering significant dust buildup in areas surrounding the children’s play equipment.
The parent described being “horrified” after noticing thick layers of dust collecting along ledges and surfaces in non-play areas that sit directly beside the main play structures.

While the sections are not intended for active play, they are positioned immediately adjacent to areas where children run, climb and crawl, raising concerns that dust particles could easily circulate into the play environment and then into childrens lungs.
According to the parent, the dust was particularly visible on ledges and corners near the base of the play structures, areas that remain within close proximity to where children spend extended periods of time.
The discovery has prompted questions about the frequency and thoroughness of cleaning in spaces surrounding high-traffic play zones.

During the same visit, the parent also observed a maintenance issue involving one of the play centre’s interactive attractions.
A pipe that appeared to be part of a ball-blower system — designed to push lightweight balls through tubes and into a basket above — was found detached and lying on the floor.
The pipe was clearly broken and no longer connected to the blower mechanism. Rather than being removed or repaired, it had reportedly been left on the ground beneath the equipment.
The blower attraction, which normally allows children to launch balls upward through air-powered tubes, appeared to be out of operation, not directing balls up into a bucket above as a result.
Beyond rendering the feature unusable, the detached pipe raised concerns about potential safety risks, with the loose component sitting on the ground directly where children play.
The parent who raised the concerns said the level of dust visible near the play structures, combined with the presence of damaged equipment left on the floor, created an unsettling impression.
Opened in September 2017, Croc’s Playcentre in Hoppers Crossing has long served as a popular indoor destination for families with young children.
Nearly eight years on from its opening the immediate play surfaces themselves appeared largely clean. However, the contrast between the maintained play zones and the surrounding buildup suggested that a broader, facility-wide deep clean may be due.
