Start the school year with help from Wyndham City Libraries

Latest Posts

Wyndham City Libraries offer a wide variety of free library resources and activities for students of all ages.
With the 2022 school year approaching, it’s a great time to remind students at Wyndham of the fantastic resources available at their local library.

Wyndham City Deputy Mayor and Learning City Portfolio holder, Cr Jasmine Hill said: Wyndham Libraries also offer a great opportunity for our local students to take advantage of the dedicated study spaces and resources our libraries have on offer.”

“Students are encouraged to come and study in a quiet environment with like-minded students. Starting a study routine in a quiet study space can re-energise students and enhance concentration.”

“For our younger residents starting their learning journey, there is a wide range of resources available to support early literacy and numeracy. As well as a wide range of interesting and entertaining books to engage young readers.” Librarians are always available to provide assistance to ensure you can find what you are looking for.

“Our libraries can support your child to enjoy reading by providing books to suit all reading levels. We can help your child work out what to read next, whether it be from the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge list or one of our many genre-based lists.”

“The library has books for parents and teachers to support children with special needs, including resources for dyslexia, autism and learning disabilities.”

Wyndham libraries also provide the following support:

  • Read With Me – a popular after-school program that helps children practise their reading with an Education Librarian.
  • For children starting their educational journey the Starting School Reading List is a useful online resource.
  • Homework Help can assist with school projects and Education eLibrary provides free access to Britannica Library, Literacy Planet and educational games.
  • For students looking for one-on-one support from tertiary-qualified, subject specialists, the library provides free access to Studiosity – an online tutoring service. Simply sign in with your library barcode and pin to get online 24/7 expert help with English, maths, science and a range of other subjects.

For those who need a place to study out-of-hours, Hoppers Crossing Library is now open until 10pm every Thursday.

“Whether you need a break from study or you want to learn and develop mindfulness and wellbeing skills come and try out the activities,” Cr Hill said.

All five libraries have dedicated study spaces, study resources and research help available from friendly, qualified Librarians.
