Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has held a special lunch in Werribee to commemorate Aged Care Employee Day and show appreciation to those who support the elderly.
RRT volunteers brought along their barbeques to Mercy Place Wyndham to provide lunch for 50 employees.
RRT Werribee Team Leader Jeremy Williams says Aged Care Employee Day is an opportunity to show gratitude for some of the hardest working and most dedicated carers in the community.
“Those who dedicate their lives to looking after elderly Australians play such an important role in our society and Rapid Relief Team wants them to know they are so appreciated,” said Jeremy.
“Volunteers from Werribee provided 50 meals to staff at Mercy Place Wyndham, giving them a chance to take a well-earned break and enjoy a delicious, specially prepared meal on us,”
“Preparing and serving a meal is a simple gesture but RRT is all about caring for carers – and this is our way of saying, ‘thank you so much’.”
RRT held five appreciation events in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria on Aged Care Employee Day this year, serving a total of 360 meals.
As the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, RRT supports frontline workers and emergency services by providing food, donations and other resources, as well as hosting events for the community.
Established in 2013 to assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support, it’s expanded to more than 16,500 volunteers and provides support to the community through charitable donations and events.
