A total of 356 new COVID cases in Wyndham

A total of 356 new active COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed among Wyndham residents in the 24 hours to 12pm, Thursday January 27.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the municipality of Whittlesea – within the city’s north – has the highest amount of new active viruses in the state, with 378 cases.

Within Wyndham, there are 177 new coronavirus cases located within the 3029 postcode (Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit and Truganina) and 122 new cases in the 3030 postcode (Werribee, Werribee South and Point Cook).

There are 39 cases in the 3024 postcode (Wyndham Vale, Manor Lakes, , Mambourin and Mount Cottrell), plus 18 new cases in Williams Landing (postcode 3027) and one new case in Little River (postcode 3211).

Today’s overall COVID-19 case rate in Wyndham is lower than about two weeks ago – for example, on January 10, there were 966 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Wyndham.

Across the state today, 3126 COVID cases have been reported via PCR (a polymerase chain reaction test) in the past 24 hours and 7625 “probable” cases via RAT (rapid antigen tests) in the past 24 hours.

Fifteen Victorians with COVID-19 have died within the past 24 hours. A total of 1057 Victorians are in hospital with the coronavirus, including 77 patients in intensive care.

As of Monday, January 24, more than 95 per cent of Wyndham residents aged 15 and above had undergone at least one COVID-19 vaccination.

Children aged 5 to 11 can now be vaccinated in Victoria.
