Residents of Werribee’s Unison Community Housing Block Complain of Persistent Cannabis Odour

Residents of the Unison community Housing Block in Werribee, which first opened less than two years ago, are expressing growing frustration over persistent cannabis odours that are permeating their living spaces.

Despite multiple complaints to building management, the issue continues to go unaddressed, leaving residents to contend with the overwhelming smell on a daily basis.

Reports from residents indicate that the cannabis odor originates from within the building, where some tenants openly consume the substance without concern for the impact on their neighbors.

The smell is not only detectable in private rooms but also fills common areas such as hallways, elevators, and even the entrance to the building.

One resident, who wishes to remain unnamed, shared her experience: “The moment I open my balcony window, my entire apartment fills with the smell of cannabis. It’s so strong that I can’t even dry my clothes outside anymore because they end up smelling like weed.”

Another resident described the situation as “unbearable” and expressed frustration over the lack of response from building management.

“We’ve complained several times, but nothing has been done. It’s as if the people responsible don’t care about how it’s affecting everyone else. We’re constantly inundated by it, and it’s making life here miserable,” she said.

The problem has left residents concerned about the health implications of prolonged exposure to cannabis smoke and the overall decline in living conditions within the building. Despite numerous reports to management, residents say the issue persists, with no clear solution in sight.

A spokesperson for the building management was not immediately available for comment. As the problem continues, residents are calling for immediate action to improve ventilation and enforce regulations to prevent the spread of cannabis odors in shared spaces.

The situation has created a sense of helplessness among residents, who are hopeful that their concerns will finally be addressed, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for all.
