Latest Posts

Last year, the council approved a Master Plan for the Alfred Road Reserve Sports precinct – a 21-hectare plot of land that will be turned into a great sport centre in Iramoo Ward

The area’s population is expected to increase rapidly in the next decade. While the growth is good for for area, there it isn’t enough facilities to keep up with the growing population.

Iramoo Ward contains around a quarter of the Wyndham population (53,000 residents) as at 2016 and is forecast to grow by 200%, the largest population growth in the municipality

Forecasts predict by 2031 Iramoo Ward will be the largest in Wyndham.

The council announced this month the landmark project has now commenced.

Iramoo Ward Councillors said they had recently awarded a contract for detailed design works and consultation with peak bodies and key stakeholders is progressing

The proposal included the construction of six netball courts, two soccer fields, two cricket ovals, a shared cricket and football oval, nine cricket practice nets, a sporting pavilion to be shared by cricket, netball and football teams, a 1.5 kilometre circuit path with fitness stations, a play and picnic area, car parking and landscaping.

It will be attended by junior and senior classes. competition and become a training base for other sports associations, clubs, schools and the wider community.

Upon completion the site will become a major sporting precinct for all residents to enjoy.

“A true sporting destination for residents and visitors”, said Iramoo Ward Councillors

Council has already submitted a number of grant applications seeking both the State and Federal governments to commit to assisting to help fund the important project.

These projects are significant additions to Iramoo Ward and will provide our residents
with much needed family support and recreational facilities.

Further updates to be announced as project continues.
